AN INCREDIBLE 60-YEAR HISTORY FOR ELECTRIC CONTROL EQUIPMENT COMPANY
Inspiration and foresight are great for any business, but to be able to see decades ahead is what separates some from most. With the amazing surplus left behind at the end of World War II, Westport resident Ed Kahn, had a masterstroke of genius concerning what could be done. He then started what would become a 60–year history of industry leadership and success for Electric Control Equipment Company.
Ed’s vision was to take advantage of the huge amount of surplus switchgear left over from WWII and supply industrial circuit breakers and electrical equipment to major commercial clients and utilities. As the United States’ industrial base flourished after the war, he quickly found himself selling remanufactured circuit breakers, electrical equipment and used switchgear throughout the country. He built the business on the cornerstones of a commitment to quality, a complete understanding of customer needs and a devotion to customer service. As a result, Electric Control became a huge success.
